Dr Stephen Pugh

Chair - Dr Stephen Pugh

Before retiring Stephen was the Director of Pre-Qualifying Social Work in the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work at the University of Salford. He now uses his experience as a researcher, lecturer and commentator to chair Salford's safeguarding adult board.

Stephen draws upon his extensive experience as a qualified social-worker working with older people in fieldwork and local authority management settings. Stephen has worked with many situations in which older people were being abused. This in turn set off an interest in protecting vulnerable people but also in supporting colleagues in their work with abusive situations.
